The number
of employees placed in new travel industry jobs reached its joint highest ever
level in May but candidate volumes are still not keeping up with demand, according to a specialist
travel recruitment business.
In addition,
the number of new vacancies rose five per cent to reach the second-highest
monthly total since January 2020.
The figures
come from C&M Travel Recruitment which said the number of candidates it
placed in new positions last month was up 15 per cent from April and was 679
per cent higher than a year ago.
Since
March, the company has had its three busiest ever months with “record numbers”
of candidates being placed in new travel jobs.
“May followed the trend for 2022 and was another huge month for
travel recruitment,” said Barbara Kolosinska, the company’s managing director. Recruitment
in the travel industry really is at historic levels right now.”
She continued: “May was also a huge month for new travel vacancies,
so the boom we're currently experiencing is clearly not going to end any time
soon.
“While candidate volumes are still not keeping
up with demand, the number of new applicants is at a 10-month high, and with
the amount of extremely attractive new travel jobs now on offer, we hope to see
even more talent searching for new roles over the summer.”
