Travel Counsellors has seen its corporate bookings for February come close to matching pre-pandemic levels.
The homeworking specialist TMC said business travel sales had reached 92 per cent of 2019 levels during the month, with 90 per cent of its corporate-focused agents making a sale last week.
Travel Counsellors added that its combined corporate bookings for January and February reached £18 million, which was 82 per cent of 2019’s sales for the two months.
This figure was boosted by £5 million in bookings from new clients as Travel Counsellors acquired 121 new global corporate accounts in January, including 77 in the UK.
Corporate travellers have also been looking to travel very soon after booking with 89 per cent departing in February and March.
Europe dominated the choice of destinations for Travel Counsellors’ corporate clients in February with France, Germany and Italy leading the way, as European countries began relaxing Covid-19 travel restrictions. The UK and US had been the top-selling corporate destinations in January.
Kieran Hartwell, managing director of corporate travel at Travel Counsellors, added: “It is hugely encouraging to see this surge in corporate bookings, similar to what we have also experienced in the leisure market.
“We are increasingly seeing small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) looking for that human expertise on travelling in a post-pandemic world.”
