Paul Tilstone will leave his position as head of the Institute of Travel and Meetings (ITM) at the end of 2011, to take on a full time role with the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA).
Tilstone has been with the association for six and a half years, but since January 2010 has split his time between the roles of ITM’s CEO and managing director of GBTA.
From 2012, Tilstone will work full time for the GBTA, in a role that is yet to be announced.
He said he is looking forward to devoting his time fully to GBTA, but would continue to work for close ties between the two trade bodies.
“The ongoing strength of ITM is fundamental to the success of GBTA in Europe, and it’s great that ITM will have the opportunity for fresh leadership to see it through to its next stage,” he said.
ITM has started a search for Tilstone’s replacement, and is calling on anyone interested to contact the institute’s chairman Jamie Hindhaugh.
The new CEO would hopefully be in place before the end of the year, to ensure "a smooth handover", said Hindhaugh.
