A travel management career comes with significant benefits these days, according to the latest survey from the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC).
The GTMC conducted a survey of its 34 TMC members, which showed that in general TMCs need to be accommodating and flexible employers to retain their top staff.
Anne Godfrey, the GTMC’s CEO, said: “Our members tell us there is a shortage of skilled personnel and the use of benefits to secure the best staff is on the increase.”
For example, around half of the TMCs (53%) offer commission on the sale of ancillary services, such as airport transfers.
Many TMCs also supplement their staff’s income with incentives to bring new blood into the industry, the survey revealed.
Some 85% of the businesses surveyed said they pay their own staff members a finder’s fee when they introduce new recruits.
Additional benefits offered by GTMC members include season ticket loans, study leave and service-related holiday, with the amount allowed increasing with the length of time spent with a company.
