GetThere and GERS to offer integrated platform
Sabre and IBM have unveiled plans to release an integrated online booking and expense management platform.
By combining IBM's Global Expense Reporting Solutions (GERS) and Sabre Travel Network's GetThere platforms, the new system will produce "complete" expense reports based on both travel data and corporate card data.
Sabre said the new platform will offer internal benchmarking, "Industrial-strength" analytics tools and an improved global service infrastructure.
The two technology providers will share in the development of the new system before its release early in the second quarter, with further deployment later in the year.
"Our new GetThere relationship represents a milestone as we actively broaden our GERS marketing and sales efforts in the business travel arena," said Raymond Curatolo, director of GERS for IBM.
"GetThere's status as a proven innovator and its roster of longtime multi-national clients and reseller agencies, many of which we jointly serve today, provides a superior foundation for IBM as we expand our service options for mid-size and large managed programs."
GetThere last year announced a sales and marketing partnership with business software provider SAP, which Chris Kroeger, GetThere's president, confirmed would not be affected by the relationship with IBM.
Sabre was first created in the 1960s when IBM and American Airlines worked together on the Semi-Automated Business Research Environment electronic reservation system - SABRE.
