Portman Travel has won the travel management account for construction services company Carillion Group.
Under the deal, Portman will be responsible for all of Carillion’s travel management both in the UK and its overseas operations. Omega World Travel previously handled Carillion’s travel arrangements.
David Isteed, Carillion Group’s property director, said: “It was important for us to streamline our business travel process and manage our programme in a more cost effective way and Portman’s overall value proposition and online booking capability was an attractive proposition.
“Since the appointment, we have already moved over 85 per cent of our travel bookings online.”
Carillion, which specialises in offering support services to the buildings and infrastructure sectors, employs around 50,000 people and has operations in the Middle East, Canada and the Caribbean as well as the UK.
Portman’s senior vice president global sales David Bishop added: “We are delighted to have won the Carillion travel management contract and the whole Portman team is committed to delivering the very best solutions and services, through our strategic account management team and value proposition.”
