Business travel to the UK is on the increase, but trips abroad by UK travellers are slightly down, new passenger figures show.
Data from the Office for National Statistics compiled at airports in the January-June period show the number of travellers to the UK who said they were here on business totalled 4,015,000. This compared to the same period last year when 3,725,000 business travellers were recorded.
The data, from the International Passenger Survey, also showed that 3,361,000 flew from the UK on business in the same six-month period. This compared with just over 3.5 million in 2012.
Taking the year to date, the ONS said business visits were down 2 per cent.
