Nationwide has secured an online adoption rate of 87 per cent for travel bookings after it appointed Capita Travel and Events as its new TMC.
The Swindon-based financial firm gave its travel management contract to Capita in late 2012 as it looked to switch the bulk of its travel bookings from a telephone service to the internet.
The building society said that 80 per cent of travel bookings were being made online within one week of going live with Capita’s system. Nationwide, which employs 15,000 people across the UK, has now secured an online average adoption rate of 87 per cent.
Frank Arthur, head of sourcing for Nationwide, said: “We wanted an agency to help us migrate our bookings online to achieve service fee savings, as well as have a strong account team that can manage effective travel programmes and policies across our entire travel and events spend and negotiate the best deals on our behalf.”
Capita is also managing Nationwide’s meetings and events as part of its contract.
Steve Banks, Capita’s director of account management, added: “As a result of our bespoke specialist technology, our implementation and change management teams have the flexibility to build complex customer policies, brand personalisation and payment processes into customers’ online booking portals.
“Travel bookers can find the right journey and hotel at the right price thanks to Capita’s comprehensive technology and expert product teams.
“This inspires their confidence, ensuring they continue to book online, in line with company policy which ultimately delivers costs savings to their organisation.”
