MEON VALLEY BUSINESS TRAVEL has acquired Quorn Business Travel from KPMG, the administrators of its former parent, THA Group. Corporate communications group THA, founded in 1991 and boasting Mercedes, Alliance & Leicester and BT among its clients, went into administration with the loss of 50 jobs. Quorn, its wholly owned subsidiary, ceased trading on July 10, but Meon's 'rescue' means all 30 staff will keep their jobs.
Meon managing director, James Beagrie, said: "This moved quickly. It is a tragedy the parent group couldn't survive the current climate but we have admired Quorn as the 'jewel in the crown' for some time, so the opportunity to take on the team was a gift."
Colin Boddy, Quorn's general manager, said the company, which had a turnover of £13 million in 2008, had been hit by the collapse of THA but remained "profitable".
