Key Travel chairman Ajay Sodha will be named vice chairman of the Guild of Travel Management Companies at the group’s annual general meeting on January 18.
Sodha will replace Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s UK boss, Andrew Waller.
Waller became deputy to GTMC chairman Mike Hare at last year’s AGM, but reluctantly stood down to concentrate on his burgeoning work commitments.
Sodha will see out the remaining year of the vice chairman’s two-year tenure, and replace Hare as chairman in early 2012.
Anne Godfrey, the GTMC’s chief executive said she was disappointed that Waller had to relinquish the deputy role, but said she recognised he would not have been able to commit the time and energy required to fulfil the chairman's duties.
Waller will continue to play an active role on the GTMC’s executive committee.
