KDS online travel & expense management (KDS), a leading provider of business travel technology solutions, has announced that its flagship product, KDS Corporate, has been selected to manage online travel bookings for the UK government.
The rol-out will start with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), but the product is to be used by all government departments as part of the shared services agenda.
Holding one of the country”s largest travel accounts, the government needs a system which is capable of handling complex requirements, is user-friendly and highly secure.
"We believe that KDS and our partners are well placed to meet the exacting requirements of the MoD for travel inventory, ease of use and, of course, security," said KDS CEO, Yves Weisselberger.
KDS Corporate provides direct connectivity to suppliers outside GDS (Global Distribution System), including all major low cost airlines and UK and European railways.
A feature of the system is its ability to display all the different travel options on one screen, and therefore compare them more easily and contribute to cost-effectiveness.
KDS' government contract was awarded by OGCbuying.solutions, an executive agency of the Office of Government Commerce. KDS is part of a consortium led by Capgemini UK and Carlson Wagonlit Travel.
Capgemini MoD Account Director, Cliff Evans, said: "KDS Corporate is extremely simple to use for travel booking while providing travel managers with advanced policy monitoring features and offering the stringent security required by the Government."
