International Travel Partnership (ITP), a consortium of travel management companies, is to enhance co-operation with Net Trans, a specialist in recovering unpaid hotel commissions.
”Working with a global network such as ITP is a natural extension of our services and the agencies in ITP fit into the profile of being able to benefit substantially from Net Trans,” said Net Trans UK director of sales, John Melchior.
”We know their agencies as quality agencies which only wish to work with quality suppliers and we look forward to helping them as we had helped many thousand agencies all over the world recover their well-deserved hotel commissions.”
British travel agencies apparently lost ”20m last year on commission they did not collect from hotels, with only about 50% was being recovered.
Melchior”s view was that hotels come into three categories, those which paid up, those which would pay when pressed and those which preferred to find any way to avoid paying.
ITP chairman Jean-Claude Fert added: ”ITP has a matured and well-developed hotel programme and Net Trans will be an important part of our overall strategy for hotel sales.”
