The Institute of Travel and Meetings (ITM) is half-way to its target of 500 new members joining through the free ITM Connect offering.
The business travel organization launched its new two-tier membership in April.
Under the new structure, ITM Connect members pay no fee and can attend some events organised by ITM, and have access to certain areas of the association’s website.
Existing and new paying members are now known as Business members, and retain full privileges, such as accessing all of ITM’s research literature and attending all events.
Emmanuelle Clement, ITM’s general manager, said the organization hoped the new membership structure would bring in 500 new members by the end of 2011.
The body also hopes to grow its full Business membership in 2012.
Clement said both targets look set to be “smashed”, if the current rate of interest continues: “We are very pleased with the response,” she said.
“There is clearly a real desire for UK & Ireland professionals in this sector to engage at different levels with an independent, buyer-led association.”
