Hogg Robinson Group (HRG) has signed two partners based in Senegal and Uganda, meaning the company now has a presence in 18 African countries following its recent addition of operations in Ethiopia and Mauritius.
”This latest development reflects a substantial increase in the number of multinational companies looking to consolidate their business in Africa and demonstrates our commitment to meeting client needs and developing an even stronger presence across the region,” said HRG group industry affairs director, Mike Platt.
Saphir Voyages in Senegal”s capital, Dakar has expertise in events and meetings management, and lists Oxfam and UNICEF as key clients.
HRG believes Senegal is showing signs of new business growth. Specialising in telecoms, there are many IT and call centres, there is continued interest from foreign investors, and in recent months the government has embarked on a huge programme of infrastructure - mainly around Dakar - with new roads under construction and plans for a new international airport.
The second company is Africa Travel Ltd, with its main base in Kampala, Uganda. The country”s economy has been averaging around 6% annual growth and by maintaining macro-economic stability and liberal economic policies it has been able to attract continued multinational investment, says HRG. The UK has strong development relationships with Uganda and is the country”s largest export market.
Platt added, ”Local knowledge is essential when delivering a worldwide service and both Saphir Voyages and Africa Travel are able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the markets they serve.”
