GUILD OF TRAVEL MANAGEMENT COMPANIES is the new name of what was the GBTA (Guild of Business Travel Agents). The move comes after members voted in favour of the new name at the GBTA conference in Shanghai last week. Explaining the decision, chairman Richard Lovell, said: ”The name, Guild of Business Travel Agents, is no longer representative of what we actually do. We are in the business of travel management, and have been for some time. Gone are the days when we simply issued tickets and travel documents and relied on commission to earn a living”. The name change and a new corporate identity will be adopted by early 2005.
