Former business travel boss Alan Spence has been made a Fellow of the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC).
The entrepreneur became a multi-millionaire in March 2003 when he sold his travel management business, Britannic Travel, to Australian giant Flight Centre. He stayed on as managing director of the business.
Though the former GTMC chairman has officially retired – he spends the majority of his time watching Chelsea and tending to his 30 racehorses – he still plays an active role within the organisation.
Douglas Geddes and Don Lunn are the only industry leaders to have been made Fellows of the organisation.
