The Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) has announced that entries for the 2019 Entrepreneurs in Business Travel Award are now open.
Rewarding innovative start-ups in the business travel space, the GTMC says it decided to continue the award following the success of the inaugural presentation at its 2018 Overseas Conference.
Last year saw Delay Repay specialist Railguard take home the accolade. Founder and MD Matthew Freckelton has since described receiving the honour as “truly transformational” for the business.
The GTMC is encouraging entries from businesses offering new and inventive technology, innovative solutions and products or services that will benefit TMCs, travel buyers, or business travellers.
The awards are free to enter and are judged by a panel of industry experts, who will whittle submissions down to a final five. Shortlisted companies will deliver Dragons’ Den-style pitches to the audience at the GTMC’s 2019 Overseas Conference, which takes place in the Netherlands from 30 June to 2 July. Delegates of the event, senior representatives from across the GTMC’s TMC membership and industry partners will vote for the overall winner.
The champion will benefit from access to the GTMC’s partnership programme for 12 months, which offers them exposure to – and support from – TMC members and industry partners.
Adrian Parkes, CEO of the GTMC, commented: “We introduced the GTMC Entrepreneurs in Business Travel Award last year as a way to celebrate some of the incredible, innovative work going into new products and services that benefit our flourishing sector.
“We’re passionate about nurturing the entrepreneurial talent bringing ground-breaking enhancements to the corporate travel industry. All five of the 2018 finalists have seen tangible results since taking part, so we’re excited to see what this year’s award holds.”
The deadline for entries is Friday, 12 April. For full terms and conditions, visit the GTMC’s LinkedIn page.
