Wings Corporate Travel’s Derek Barlow and Statesman Travel’s Mervyn Williamson will join the Executive Council at the Guild of Travel Management Companies in January.
Anne Godfrey, GTMC’s CEO, said: “The GTMC Executive Council is our working board and the members on it bring experience, expertise and knowledge of the UK’s business travel sector. Without them my job would be much more difficult.
“For such busy senior management to give up their time for the voluntary roles on the GTMC Executive Council shows a massive commitment to the business travel community that the GTMC represents.”
Barlow was previously a member of the council when he was managing director at Travel Alliance, which was acquired by Wings in 2009. He is now director of supplier relations and industry affairs UK for Wings Travel Management.
He said: “I am delighted and proud to have once again been elected to join the Executive of the GTMC, a professional body that continues to truly represent its diverse membership in these particularly challenging times.”
Mervyn Williamson is joint managing director of Statesman Travel. He said joining the Executive Council
will give him the opportunity to make a contribution in “an established forum for the travel management community”.
He added: “By sharing my experiences, information and knowledge in such a professional body, I will also be better equipped to advise my clients.”
The other members of the Executive Council are: chairman Michael Hare of Portman Travel; treasurer Maurice Veronique from Travel by Appointment; Carlson Wagonlit’s Andrew Waller; Graham Ramsey of ATP International; Alan Spence of Fcm Travel; Ajay Sodha of Key Travel; Ian Allan Travel’s Paul Allan and Richard Boardman of Reed & Mackay Travel.
