GBTA has appointed Catherine McGavock as its new regional director for Europe.
McGavock, who joined GBTA earlier this year as director of marketing and events, will take the role of director of operations for Europe from January 1. ITM is the GBTA's partner in the UK.
She replaces Paul Tilstone who has moved to the position of senior vice-president of global operations for the GBTA. Tilstone now looks after six regions: North America, Latin America, Asia, Australasia, Africa and Europe.
McGavock, who will report to Tilstone, said “I look forward to working closely with our partner associations here in Europe to develop member engagement and to promote the interests of the business travel industry in the region.
“We will of course also be looking to grow our membership base in new territories throughout the continent.”
Before joining GBTA, McGavock ran her own event management and marketing partnership, and also held marketing posts at the Bank of Ireland and Capita Group.
Tilstone added: “She has already made a valuable contribution to us as our lead in marketing and events and she has proven to be a great asset to GBTA in Europe.
“The investment in this role is a clear indication of GBTA’s ongoing commitment to being a global organisation and to Europe in particular.”
