UK-based TMC consortium Focus Travel Partnership has launched a new tool designed to ensure British travellers stay within the restrictions for visiting EU countries.
Under post-Brexit rules, UK citizens can only stay in EU countries for up to 90 days during any 180-day period.
Focus Travel Partnership has now created a Brexit counter, which pulls in GDS and profile data from TMC records to show how many days a traveller has been in the EU during the 180-day window, with the colour-coded dashboard showing when a traveller is approaching their 90-day limit.
The tool, which is part of the partnership’s PinPoint duty-of-care solution, also includes a separate counter for non-Schengen EU countries, such as Cyprus and Bulgaria, which have different rules for UK visitors. It can also include any holidays that travellers take in EU countries, which are added to their total days.
Abby Penston, CEO of Focus Travel Partnership said: “Over the past two years and during the pandemic, Brexit restrictions and subsequent implications were not publicised as much as anticipated.
“As travel returns, we need to ensure that our TMCs have the tools available to inform their corporates of any new rules and restrictions. Along with the tracking solution which PinPoint provides, this Brexit counter adds another layer of value for the TMC.”
