Paul Tilstone has been appointed as chief global development officer for the Global Business Travel Association.
Tilstone is currently the CEO of the Institute of Travel and Meetings in the UK, a role he will be leaving in January 2012 to take on the new position at GBTA.
He said: “I have watched GBTA grow and flourish in the last few years and can see the huge potential this great organisation has all over the world.
“I am incredibly excited about developing the association in different regions according to the market’s wishes in those regions and bringing GBTA’s best practices to all parts of its operation.”
The newly created development post will see Tilstone focus on new regions and interest groups for the business travel organisation.
He will also continue to head up the development of GBTA in Europe.
Michael W. McCormick, GBTA’s executive director, said the new role will “help GBTA to achieve its true potential globally.
