Travel management company Egencia has launched an advanced
Egencia Connect Community and is enhancing the Expedia Group Academy with a corporate
travel management training programme to support travel managers worldwide as
they lead their organisation through changes relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the company the new advanced Egencia Connect
Community allows customers to ask questions to the TMC directly, query the
knowledge base, engage in discussions and join product pilot programmes. Guest
travel managers can also engage in learning topics and will soon be able to
access peer-to-peer networking and global travel alerts. The community is
available in English with dedicated discussion groups in French and German.
Meanwhile, the new training programme focuses on sharing the
travel expertise of Egencia and the wider Expedia Group with the global travel
manager community, the company said. The courses cover the fundamentals of
business travel, from creating a travel programme strategy to maximising travel
budget, while tailored leadership courses provide knowledge on how to manage
business travel during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mark Hollyhead, chief operating officer and SVP of customer
success at Egencia, said: “2020 has fundamentally changed the travel manager’s
role and scope. While cost and the traveller experience are still essential to
corporate travel programmes, business travel is now a more far-reaching
challenge with new expectations that push the travel manager to prepare, plan,
coordinate and constantly monitor progress. I think it’s fair to say travel
management has been elevated to a level of strategic importance for most
companies.”
