The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) has announced that Mark Cuschieri will become the new chair of the European Advisory Board.
Cuschieri is executive director for global travel at UBS. He has been with the firm since 2007 and is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the global travel programme in more than 50 countries. He brings more than 25 years’ experience in the corporate travel industry and has held roles as both a travel buyer and supplier.
Cuschieri has previously served as chair of the Institute of Travel Management (ITM) and also served as a member of the ITM’s board of directors from 2010-2018 and is a non-executive director at Fello.
He also currently sits on the Strategic Benchmark Group, an assembly of senior executives responsible for travel management, travel and meetings management or mobility management in multinational companies. The group aims to identify and explore the strategic issues of the future, discover and evaluate new trends at an early stage and establish meaningful benchmarks.
In 2014, Cuschieri won the GBTA’s Luoma Award, which recognises a volunteer who supports the development of the organisation and its local market partners in Europe.
As chair, Cuschieri will lead the advisory board in providing strategic direction for the GBTA’s efforts and activities in Europe. He is taking over from Marc Zuber, who has filled the role since 2017.
