The Capita Group has bought accommodation, meetings and events management company Booking Services International (BSI).
The outsourcing firm already owns travel management company Capita Business Travel, and with the acquisition hopes to become an “influential player of scale”.
The merger will put Capita into the top five largest companies in the UK business travel sector, by more than doubling the size of its operations in the market.
James Parkhouse, business director of Capita Group’s travel and conferences business, said as a result of the acquisition, the company will provide a “unique travel management company proposition to the UK corporate and public sector”.
He added that customers would benefit in “service and choice” as the two companies were aligned.
Trevor Elswood, previously managing director at BSI and now MD of Capita Business Travel and BSI, said the merger will deliver “significant market leverage from additional scale which will benefit current and future customers alike”.
BSI has around 300 employees, mainly in Taunton, London, Nottingham and Cheadle. Current clients include Marks and Spencer, Easyjet and the Crown Prosecution Service.
