Christoph Carnier is to continue in his role as president of German travel management association VDR.
Carnier, who has been VDR president for three years, will stay in the post following a vote at the association’s annual general meeting in Cologne on Tuesday (3 May). Meanwhile Inge Pirner, travel manager for Datev, has been re-elected as VDR’s vice-president.
“I am very happy about this sign of trust and thank you all very much,” said Carnier following the vote. “The last three years in office have been turbulent with many challenges that we have mastered very well together.
“The association is excellently positioned for current and future tasks, and I look forward to tackling them together with you and the entire VDR team.”
Carnier, who is senior director of travel, fleet and events at Merck Group, said he would also be continuing with the strategy of promoting young talent in the industry.
Karina Kaestner, who works for DB Vertrieb GmbH, and Michael Krenz, from Corporate Rates Club, have also been re-elected to the VDR executive committee, meanwhile Richard Thompson, from dm-drogerie markt, and Olaf Lehmann, from TRUMPF Group, have joined the committee for the first time. Previous committee members Simone Kirchner and Heiko Luft have now stepped down.
