Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) is to manage all business travel for leading chemical company BASF in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The TMC has serviced BASF ” a German company with 95,000 employees, 160 production sites around the world, and turnover of around ”50bn ($70bn) ” in the Asia-Pacific region since 2005.
A CWT business travel centre will support BASF travellers in each of the 45 countries in the added regions, and a European-wide online tool will be live by mid-year to facilitate point-to-point bookings.
”During the last few years managing corporate travel has become highly complex,” said BASF procurement manager for logistic solutions, Dr Georg Wellinghoff. ”There are so many pricing models and distribution channels that BASF can no longer provide a sustainably competitive travel booking service.”
BASF global travel management team leader, Claudia Tensierowski, said: ”By consolidating our travel programme with CWT we are one step further in our efforts to effectively manage our travel programme on a global basis. This will be a benefit for our company and our travellers alike.”
CWT vice president for strategic sales and account management, Martina Eggler, said: ”We will help BASF derive the greatest benefits in terms of savings, service and security from an internationally consolidated travel programme.”
