Canadian franchisee snapped up
Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) has bought its second agency in a week.
The Paris-based, American-owned travel management company has acquired Madison Travel.
Earlier this week, CWT bought its long term Irish partner Executive Travel Group.
Founded in 1982, the agency, based in Ottawa, Ontario, operated as Intra/Executive Travel until changing its name in 1989 to Intra/Madison.
It became a CWT franchisee in 1999 and has traded as CWT Madison Travel for nearly ten years.
Its owner Sandra Granatstein, who has 30 years' experience in the travel industry, will become a consultant while for the company while her 17 staff will continue in their jobs.
Michael Thompson, Carlson's vp, leisure - North America, said: "The acquisition of CWT Madison Travel is a great opportunity for CWT to expand its local presence in the area.
"The acquisition further demonstrates CWT's commitment to the travel industry and to the market long-term."
