Carlson Wagonlit Travel CEO Kurt Ekert has been appointed vice chair of the United States Travel and Tourism Advisory Board by secretary of commerce Wilbur Ross.
Ekert’s addition to the board brings a voice for corporate travel to the board, which advises the secretary of commerce on key matters affecting US travel and tourism. The board also provides a forum for industry-related discussions.
The board is made up of thirty-two members representing companies in the travel and tourism industry and provides counsel on issues such as travel facilitation, visa policy, infrastructure, aviation security, research, energy policy and economic sustainability.
In addition to Ekert, CWT’s director of corporate affairs Natalie Volin Lehr will serve as a deputy on the board.
Ekert commented: “I am honoured to be part of this team of experts who play such an important role in shaping the travel industry. We will focus our efforts on attracting new visitors to America, solving current issues and continuing to positively impact the economy.”
