Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Travelport have agreed a deal to use new technology to allow clients’ travellers in different countries to be served by a single central TMC team.
The two companies said that CWT will become the first business travel agency to use Travelport’s Smartpoint desktop system.
Smartpoint allows travellers’ profiles from across the world, including all trip information and preferences, to appear on a consultant’s screen with all calls managed by a centralised team.
The system has been trialled with a financial services client which wanted to increase compliance with policy and improve service to its travellers.
Lyn Given, CWT’s director of traveller services UK & Ireland, said: “This new booking platform has transformed the booking process for our client and we are delighted to be able to work with Travelport to be the first in the industry to use this technology.”
Marcos Suner, vice president of Travelport global accounts, added: “Our close working relationship with CWT means we have been able to develop an industry first with a tool built with the latest technology.”
