A recent Business Travel Show survey has revealed that buyers are expecting to face continued pressure to cut costs while maintaining quality in 2018.
The survey of 243 corporate travel buyers asked what they believe is the biggest issue they’ll face in the next 12 months, with reducing costs making the top of the list for the third consecutive year. The next challenge buyers expect to face is an increased focus on duty of care.
In third place comes rising hotel rates and availability, which was number five on the previous year’s list. This perception comes after Hotstats found that UK hotels are facing increasing costs that are impacting overall profit conversion.
Rounding out fourth and fifth place are Brexit and keeping up with technology.
David Chapple, event director of the Business Travel Show, said: “It’s not surprising to see cost cutting and duty of care as the top two challenges facing buyers over the next 12 months, especially given the recent spate of terrorist attacks across Europe and further afield; it’s simply not an opportunity for buyers to ignore traveller risk anymore – it must be a priority for them, their organisations and their partners.”
