Business Travel Show is to host a new two-day conference aimed at personal and executive assistants during next year’s event in London.
The conference called ‘The Fundamentals of Business Travel’ will feature eight sessions across the two-day show at Earls Court on February 4-5.
Organisers said the programme was designed for people “who are either new to buying business travel, or for whom business travel is only one element of their job”.
David Chapple, BTS event director, said: “Increasingly, PAs and EAs (executive assistants) are being asked to take on the responsibility of booking business travel, particularly in smaller organisations.
“But when you’re multi-tasking to the extent PAs and EAs are required to do, it can be hard to devote the time and resources required to really get under the skin of a topic as diverse as business travel.”
Topics will include: building a travel management policy, choosing a travel management company and other partners, data, negotiating with suppliers, and corporate payments.
BTS has also announced details of the companies taking part in the hosted buyer programme to February’s show.
The firms that have already signed up include Accenture, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Betfair Group, BP, Continental AG, EON, Jaguar Land Rover, John Lewis Partnership, Sony Mobile Communications, University College London, Wellcome Trust and Xchanging.
