Business trips abroad by UK residents have increased by 4 per cent over the last 12 months.
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics showed that there were 7 million business trips overseas for the year ending in October – up from 6.7 million for the previous 12 months.
The number of business trips between August and October also increased by 1 per cent to 1.76 million.
Business travel is continuing to outperform the outbound leisure market which was down by 1 per cent to 36.4 million trips for the year to the end of October.
The figures show that the corporate travel market accounts for 12.4 per cent of all overseas trips by UK residents - up from 11.95 per cent a year ago.
Business trips to the UK from overseas residents rose by 1 per cent to 7.22 million for the 12 months to the end of October but they were down by 3 per cent to 1.78 million for the quarter from August to October.
