Barclaycard Business Solutions has today launched a card it claims will help firms cut a quarter off their business fuel costs by improving the way they manage fleet fuel expenses.
Fuel+ is designed to help travellers and fleet managers and has been developed by expense management company The Miles Consultancy.
The card allows drivers to refuel at most UK petrol stations, while The Miles Consultancy mileage system gives fleet managers complete visibility of their staff’s fuel spend and reduces costs, Barclaycard claims.
Fuel+ is available to all organisations with large fleet vehicles (with a fuel spend of more than £500,000).
The system works by enabling drivers to log their business mileage online, over the phone or text. The system then analyses all relevant data including card purchases, mileage stats, distance travelled and vehicle-specific tank capacity.
Barclaycard also said it can identify irregular patterns of spend, significantly reducing over-claims and help ensure accurate VAT recovery.
Barclaycard global commercial payments managing director, Alejandro Stein, said: “Fuel costs are a significant and rising cost for many businesses and can be complex and time consuming to manage.
“Fuel+ will help to make things much simpler for both drivers and fleet managers and could help businesses cut, on, average, a quarter off their business fuel costs.”
