BCD Travel upgrades profile management

BCD Travel has announced plans to upgrade its TripSource Profile Manager system using the secure SAP Customer Data Cloud solution.

The third-generation system is being built as a digital-first solution that combines three functions – traveller identity management, traveller consent management and traveller profile management – in one platform.

BCD says the SAP-backed system will enable more personalised service and support, as well as secure access to trip management tools. It will also provide advanced multi-factor authentication and a customer-based consent solution that provides travellers with transparency and control over the use of their personal data beyond the minimum standards established under General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The SAP Customer Data Cloud is part of the SAPC/4Hana suite, which includes customer relationship management (CRM) and other client experience solutions.

BCD evaluated several technologies and chose SAP’s solution because its strategy was in line with its own tenets of “simple, digital, adaptive and global”, according to Yannis Karmis, senior vice president of product planning and development.

Karmis said: “In this age of highly personalised services, it’s critical to invest in open, cloud-based technologies. We’re excited to partner with SAP to bring our clients and travellers the latest in digital technology.

“Through this investment with SAP’s Customer Data Cloud technology, we can lead the industry by offering a truly unified global system with rich and actionable profile information that touches every service channel for both BCD and for our customers.”

Ben Jackson, general manager of SAP Customer Data Cloud, added: “The addition of SAP Customer Data Cloud... moves BCD towards being a true intelligent enterprise. By using first-party customer data effectively, BCD will achieve desired outcomes faster – and with less risk. Eliminating customer data silos will improve the performance of other SAP systems at BCD Travel by enabling a trusted single view of their customers.”

The new solution is due to begin rolling out to BCD Travel customers in the second half of 2019.
