Global travel management company BCD Travel has presented its first-ever Women of Distinction award to Kathy Jackson, executive vice president of global programme management and Advito, in honour of International Women’s Day (8 March).
President and CEO John Snyder said: “With the award, we want to celebrate extraordinary women in our organisation. We hope it will inspire people across the company by putting a spotlight on role models of achievement and innovation.”
Jackson has been with BCD for more than 37 years, starting her career as a travel agent and quickly moving into leadership positions. In her current role, she is responsible for BCD’s programme management team and the firm’s consulting group Advito. BCD says she is also the driving force behind building the company’s global sustainability programme.
BCD Travel was honoured with the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Programme at the 2019 Business Travel Awards.
In addition to the newly created Women of Distinction award, BCD Travel says it is active in supporting gender equality. The TMC has joined the UN Global Compact and supports its Sustainable Development Goals, where gender equality is number five of 17.
Women make up 70 per cent of BCD’s global workforce – with 50 per cent of those at director level and above being female. The company has recently expanded its leadership training programme, with 125 employees going through the initiative in 2018.
Christian Dahl, senior vice president of talent management and global human resources, commented: “We hope that with our actions we achieve a better gender balance on an executive level. By increasing flexibility in our jobs, expanding our training programmes and providing the culture that motivates women to move up the ranks, we hope to retain our current women employees and encourage even more to join us.”
