American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) has expanded
messaging capabilities and made enhancements to the Amex GBT Mobile platform.
The option to message with a travel counsellor via the app
has expanded to more than 24 countries where GBT has a proprietary presence,
while a new push notification feature called Travel Programme Notifications
will allow travel managers to send messages and tips to travellers based on
their location. According to the TMC, expansion to two-way conversations via
push notifications will be available in the coming months.
Meanwhile, the option to message with a GBT counsellor via
Apple Business Chat using the Messages app on an iPhone or iPad has been
expanded to more client segments and to countries beyond the US including Canada,
France, Germany and the UK.
As previously announced, the TMC’s new Travel Vitals
briefing platform is accessible via the Amex GBT Mobile platform and provides
travellers with itinerary-specific data relating to travel regulations and
restrictions.
Andrew Crawley, GBT’s chief commercial officer, commented:
“Mobile and messaging channels have untapped potential to be a conduit between
the travel manager, traveller and travel counsellor in today’s constantly
changing travel information environment. Covid-19 has been a catalyst for the
expansion of our messaging capabilities and platform. We are thinking
differently about information as a service and want to help our clients support
the needs of their travellers by being present in the channels they trust.”
