VIRGIN TRAINS has posted notice that during the Summer Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 27 to Monday 29 August some West Coast and CrossCountry services will be subject to alteration and coach replacement as Network Rail continues with engineering to upgrade the routes. Track work at Coventry will divert trains via Nuneaton. Special coach links will run between Rugby, Coventry, Birmingham International and Birmingham New Street, and passengers from London should change at Rugby. CrossCountry services will be diverted to call at Solihull with coach links between Leamington Spa and Coventry and Solihull and Birmingham International. Trains to the north will be affected and also at Stockport where work on the track will also be taking place causing changes to local routes. Our advice to rail travellers over what is normally a very busy weekend is check with the Virgin Trains website and also with other rail companies who have not been so forthcoming with news.
