LONDON”S UNDERGROUND could operate one hour later at weekends according to plans put forward by the much discredited ”Transport for London”. The idea is for the trains to start later and finish later. BAR UK, which represents over 90% of all airlines flying into Heathrow, contends that the current schedule already under-serves Heathrow. A total of 26 weekend flights, carrying 35,000 passengers, would be affected by passengers either not being able to reach Heathrow in time to check in, or finding that there would be no services to take from Heathrow into London. These figures will increase substantially once Airbus A380 operations commence in late 2006 most of the long haul flights from the east arriving early and departing within three to four hours.
