Ground transport company Tristar has invested in 50 four-wheel drive vehicles to help keep travellers on the road in adverse weather conditions.
After last year’s big freeze, the travel company decided to enhance its fleet in case it happens again this year.
Dean De Beer, Tristar’s CEO, said the investment “underlines our commitment to be fully prepared for the winter season”.
The extreme weather conditions last year are estimated to have costBritain’s economy £1.2 billion, as transport networks were paralyzed.
De Beer said heavy snowfall and icy roads have “become one of the challenges the industry in theUKnow faces annually”.
He added: “Our experience of these weather conditions has taught us that the key to keeping people on the road is to be prepared.
“And whilst there was a certain element of surprise to the weather last year, I fully expect people this year to have a different attitude and want to be 100% sure they can get to important flights or meetings, no matter what the weather is doing.”
