Southend airport has agreed a partnership that will see Ensign Bus Company re-instate its late night and early morning service to central London.
The X1 bus service previously offered passengers an early morning departure from Victoria that arrived at the Essex airport at 0430 – in time for 0630 and 0715 departures. But Ensign pulled the service in June, accusing Southend of restricting its access to drop-off points closer to the airport.
Now Southend has revealed an official agreement that will see the return of the daily X1 service on 5 October, which will depart the airport at 2340 and make stops at Lakeside Bus Station, Canning Town and Embankment before arriving at Victoria Grosvenor Gardens at 0105.
The airport said the agreement builds on new early arrival and late departure trains to and from Liverpool Street introduced earlier this year by Greater Anglia.
