NATIONAL RAIL, a sort of marketing organisation to replace that area of British Rail, has a new web site. ABTN has a policy of not reporting on new and revised web sites, there are just too many of them, but in this case we make an exception as it is a very useful site and covers the whole country. A new ”Passenger Services” section contains essential journey information about things like the carriage of luggage; animals; information for families, groups and disabled travellers; and details of travel on sleeper services. Special offers giving reduced price travel or discounted entry into major attractions is also included on the front page. The website which receives over 13.5m journey enquiries every month is the most visited ”surface transport” site in Britain.
