First Scotrail”s new ”400,000 First Class Lounge opens today, at Aberdeen station, the latest stage in its redevelopment programme.
The lounge, located at the front of the station adjacent to the recently opened travel centre, is free for First Class ticket holders, Caledonian Sleeper customers and Advance Club members with rail tickets.
Once inside, facilities of note include free wifi access, digital TV, a shower complete with fresh towels, service information and ticket booking screens, and a receptionist on hand to assist.
”This is a significant addition to the station and supports our drive to deliver the highest level of customer service, quality and comfort,” said Peter Williams, First ScotRail”s commercial director.
Mr Williams went on to describe the lounge as a ”peaceful environment where customers can relax and enjoy their surroundings”, before revealing plans to build a new heated waiting area for standard fare rail customers.
The station”s redevelopment forms part of the city”s larger ”250million Union Square development, due open autumn 2009.
