NATIONAL were at WTM. They are the largest car rental company in the UK with over 45,000 vehicles in 175 locations (including the leisure Alamo brand). Its total fleet in over 83 countries worldwide is an amazing 350,000 vehicles, ranging in Great Britain from the Ford Ka to the Saab 95 automatic and various four-wheel drive and multi-purpose offerings. And if that is not good enough for you, there is always their high-class brand Guy Salmon with Jaguar, BMW and Mercedes, who will now deliver cars to Heathrow T1. At Excel, National were emphasising that GPS was becoming the norm across the worldwide fleet. As was pointed out ”years ago your hire car had to have a radio, now the norm of course. It”s the same with on board navigation. Renters expect it and with a high turnover of new cars it is coming in very quickly”. National also announced a deal with European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), as preferred car rental supplier. EADS employs around 110,000 people at more than 70 production sites, predominantly in the UK, France, Spain and Germany.
