MEGABUS, part of the Stagecoach Group, which also owns Scot Airways, is introducing a network of intercity bus connections with prices claimed to be the cheapest medium-distance public transport for over a century. A trip on horse-drawn stagecoach between Oxford and London over 100 years ago would have cost the equivalent of ”40 in today”s money. The UK”s first low-cost Internet bus service has adapted the ”no frills” concept of the budget airlines, allowing passengers to travel between major cities across England and Wales from just ”1. The new routes, which follow trials in Scotland and the north of England, are: London to Birmingham, Bournemouth, Brighton, Bristol, Plymouth-Exeter, Portsmouth, Southampton and Swansea-Cardiff.
