LONDON CITY AIRPORT is at last connected to the place it was named after, with the official opening last week of the ”140m DLR extension. Your editor can vouch for the swiftness of travel, a journey from the London Stock Exchange via St Paul”s Underground, through the complex that is Bank, and onto the Bombardier train taking just 28 minutes. It is a very quick covered walk into the terminal. Estimates are that passengers can be at The Bank within 30 minutes of actually landing. For the future, the DLR is to take over the Silverlink line to Stratford giving a direct service to the Eurostar station and the 2012 Olympic site. And that is why Colin Jackson and Denise Lewis were invited to the opening.
