ITA Airways has partnered with privately-owned rail operator Italo to offer combined air and rail tickets in a single purchase.
The companies, in a memorandum of understanding, have also agreed to “continue investing in and developing integrated offerings through concrete intermodality projects”.
From July, travellers will be able to book combined air and rail tickets via travel agencies and travel management companies as well as through the ITA website. This follows a similar 2023 agreement between ITA and state-owned Trenitalia, which also allows travellers to book integrated journeys on one ticket.
Joerg Eberhart, CEO and general manager of ITA Airways, said: “This collaboration stems from a shared vision for the future of mobility and aims to offer travellers an integrated and sustainable travel experience, enhancing the connection between air and rail transport, while also guaranteeing increasingly widespread connections throughout Italy and to the international destinations served by ITA Airways’ network.”
