On 15 December 2008 a new service for Gatwick Express will be introduced, which extends the service to Brighton. This new service will comprise of six extended services in the morning and evening
One of the enduring and most popular features of the Gatwick Express service, and a major reason why the train company has topped the National Passenger Surveys for the last 6 years, is the high standard of customer service. This is most obviously demonstrated by the presence of welcoming Hosts at London Victoria and Gatwick Airport. For the new Brighton service, the success of the hosts will be replicated with new hosts who will be on hand at Brighton station, and on-board the train, giving customers the best possible service.
Smartly attired in their red and grey branded uniforms these hosts are a highly visual difference for Gatwick Express passengers when compared to other train companies. The hosts provide much more than just a professional image, however, with the hosts using their multi-lingual skills to assist passengers from abroad with specific tourist requests as well as being on hand to help out with useful information about onward travel for all customers.
Chris Burchell, managing director of Southern and Gatwick Express explains, "Linking our second largest airport to one of our most cosmopolitan seaside towns will provide an enhanced rail service to and from the airport for incoming tourists and local residents.
Passengers using the extended services from Gatwick to London Victoria will still experience the same features that Gatwick Express offers including: a frequent service, a 30 minute non-stop journey to and from the airport, the ability to buy tickets on-board, an on-board catering service and Gatwick Express staff to help customers both on the train and at stations
