Free Now says it is the first ride hailing app provider to enable businesses to restrict employees to the use of only electric vehicles.
The new booking functionality means corporates seeking to reduce their environmental impact can limit users of Free Now for Business to electric black cabs or electric private hire rides.
The business also plans to introduce an emissions calculator to help businesses understand the emissions-saving potential of using electric vehicles.
Research by the company, which recently merged with Kapten, found nine out of ten leaders in the City of London will make sustainability a leading priority in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The coronavirus pandemic has changed life as we know it and given businesses the chance to step back and think about how they can change things for the better,” says Jason Dunderdale, head of Free Now for Business UK.
“Our research reveals sustainability is a top priority for City businesses in the aftermath of the pandemic, and travel will be central to this.
“That’s why we’re working to make business travel as green as possible moving forward - becoming the first ride-hailing app to enable employees to book only EV black cabs or EV ride private hire vehicles on our app.”
Free Now says it has the largest electric fleet in Europe and the largest green fleet of black cabs in London, and is the first ride-hailing platform to offer both taxis and private hire vehicles through the same platform.
In the UK it operates in London, Manchester, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Brighton, Reading, Oxford, Derby and Leicester, and globally it serves 17 markets with over 900,000 partner drivers.
