Evolvi Rail Systems announced a range of enhancements to its EvolviNG online rail booking and fulfilment platform, including expanding access to the system to smaller, non-rail licence holding TMCs.
According to Evolvi, extending its offering ensures that more TMCs and their clients can access the system’s rail self-booking tool functionality.
The news comes as Evolvi announces the introduction of electronic tickets and mobile tickets on UK rail journeys. Users of EvolviNG can now store their tickets inside mobile wallets, enabling travellers to keep all travel-related documentation in one place.
Ken Cameron, MD of Evolvi Rail Systems, said the move takes it “closer to making this a reality in line with the Rail Delivery Group’s (RDG) vision of industry-wide mobile solutions by 2020”.
Additionally, Evolvi unveiled another update to the EvolviNG platform that provides corporate users with automatic refund capabilities for both paper and electronic tickets via their TMC. Previously, mobile ticketing issued via TMCs was restricted to non-refundable Advanced tickets because RDG and Travel Agency Refund Service (TARS) didn’t have a refund process for TMCs covering unused mobile tickets.
Evolvi has worked with RDG and TARS to develop a new refund process for the TMC market, which will provide an automated route to both mobile and e-ticket refunds and will also enable Evolvi to offer these ticket fulfilment options to its TMC users across all fare types, subject to individual train operating company agreements.
This comes as Evolvi reports its average ticket value for users of EvolviNG fell from £57.02 to £56.82 across 2017 despite year-on-year fare increases of up to 3.9 per cent over the period.
Evolvi is exhibiting at the Business Travel Show in London on stand B940.
