Industrial action today (20 May) in Belgium and on Thursday (22 May) will cause severe disruptions to Eurostar travellers, the company is warning.
Only one service between the UK and Brussels is running today because of a 24hr strike by Belgian railway workers which began at 22:00 last night ” the 19:34 from London St Pancras is expected to operate through to the Belgian capital.
Eurostar is advising all travellers to and from Belgium to exchange tickets for alternative dates or obtain refunds from wherever they bought tickets. Brussels Midi station and the whole Belgian rail network is closed. Eurostar services to Paris are operating normally and may make additional stops at Lille.
From 20:00 tomorrow evening to 08:00 on 23 May general workers in France are staging a walkout ” although Eurostar services are expected to operate as normal, there is likely to be severe disruption for passengers with onward connections to destinations across the country. Metro and bus services will also probably be disrupted.
Again, if they wish travellers who intended to make onward journeys can exchange tickets for alternative dates or obtain refunds.
